Memorial services for Arlene Esta Meyer, 87, of Hartley, formerly of Everly, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Hope Lutheran Church, of Everly. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly. Interment will be at Lonetree Cemetery in Everly. Arlene died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Hartley Memorial Assisted Living of Hartley.

Funeral services for Sara Ann (Hurst) Schmidt, 44, of Spencer, will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at Hope Reformed Church in Spencer. Pastor James Runcorn will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Sunday, with the family present from 2-6 p.m. at the church. Sara passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, at Spencer Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials are designated to the family in memory of Sara.

Elizabeth Merle Robinson, lovingly known as “Betty,” passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025, at the age of 98, at the Longhouse Nursing Home in Spencer.

Funeral services will take place Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Community Center in Marathon. Burial will be in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Community Center.

A memorial gathering for Steve Eugene Nissen, 73, of Spencer, will be conducted from 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at Warner Chapel in Everly. Burial will be North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Steve’s name. The family would like to encourage everyone to wear Minnesota Vikings attire to the gathering. Missen passed away at his home on Sunday, Jan.

A memorial service for Alesia Anderson, 59, of Spencer, will be held at a later date. Anderson passed Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, of Avera McKennan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Warner Funeral Home of Everly is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent at www.warnerfuneralhome.com.

Bennie "Ben" Lew Hollesen Sr., 76, of Spencer, and formerly of Sioux Rapids, died Jan. 7, 2025 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer. Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14, from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home in Sioux Rapids.

He passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at Spencer Hospital in Spencer.

Steven “Steve” Baumgarn, 77, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, formerly of Royal, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at the Solstice Senior Living in Las Cruces.

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held at a later date in Las Cruces and in Winterset. Burial will be held in the Silver Lake Cemetery in Lake Park.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids. Visitation will take place Tuesday, Jan. 14, from 5-7 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.

Mildred Clark Stengel, 100, passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2024, at Cottage Care Circle in Mauston, Wisconsin. Born on April 17, 1924, in Spencer, Millie graduated from Spencer High School in 1941 and spent a year working in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon.

Glenda Kay (Morfitt) Durst, beloved daughter of Millard and Gladys (Schroder) Morfitt, was born on May 11, 1936, on a farm near Sanborn. She graduated from Archer High School in 1954 and pursued her passion for teaching at Iowa State Teachers College. Glenda began her teaching career in the elementary schools of Emmetsburg, Arnold’s Park and Milford.

Funeral services for Beverly Hazel Wigen Harris, 91, of Spencer, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, at the Warner Funeral Home in Everly. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. She passed away Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at Community Memorial Health Center in Hartley surrounded by her children. There will be a reception at Weasy’s Bar and Grille, following the graveside service.

Erickson passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2024, at Spencer Post Acute Rehabilitation Center in Spencer.
