Linda Ball

Linda Rae (Franseen) Ball was born in Red Oak on April 1, 1946, to Alden Ivar Franseen and Dorothy (Gustafson) Franseen. Her early years were spent in Laurens until moving to Spencer in 1956. She attended and graduated from Spencer High School in 1964. Following graduation, she attended LaJames Beauty School in Mason City and Spencer. She also worked as a car hop at the local Spencer Town and Country Drive-In where she met her future husband & love of her life, Jim Ball.

Gail Hansen

Gail Elizabeth Hansen, the daughter of William and Mercedes (Mayronne) Roberts was born Aug. 15, 1940, in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her childhood years were spent in New Orleans where she attended and graduated from an all-girls Catholic High School. She then attended University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Funeral Notice: Charles ‘Chuck’ Tielbur

A celebration of life for Charles “Chuck” Tielbur, 89, of Milford, will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Harbor of Joy Lutheran Church, in Milford. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at the church. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer following the service. Military services will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 384 at the church following the service.

Sharon Britz will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m., with family present, at the Warner Funeral Home. Reason passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023, at St. Luke Lutheran Home. Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer.

Sharon Poffinbarger

Services for Sharon Kay Poffinbarger, 85, will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Seventh Day Adventist Church in Spencer. Elder Hans Nelson will officiate the service. Interment will be conducted at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ruthven.

Charlotte ‘Shy’ Pearson

 

Charlotte “Shy” Jean Pearson was born to Leslie and Helen Johnson in Spencer where she and her 13 brothers and sisters grew up.

Shy was united in marriage to Curtis Pearson on Nov. 8, 1942. In this union of marriage, they had three children. Deanna, Susanne and Carvell. Curt and Shy lived in Hartley their entire married life.

David Nelson

No services for David Joe Nelson, 71, of Dickens, will be conducted at this time. Nelson passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, at the Ruthven Community Care Center.

John Jr. Rohlk

John Jr. Rohlk, the son of John and Lillie (Wiese) Rohlk, was born Aug. 1, 1927 in Holstein. He was the fifth of 13 children. Brother Larry passed in infancy. His childhood years were spent in Holstein and later in Highview. After his education, he helped on the family farm as many young men did during the depression era.

Virgil Prather

Funeral services for Virgil Prather, 96, of Spencer, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at First Congregational Church in Spencer. He passed away Saturday, July 18, 2023, in Spencer.

Virgil was born to John Tinsley Prather and Elna Thomsen Prather on Feb. 22, 1927, in Omaha, Nebraska. He grew up in Newell and graduated from Peterson High School in Peterson.

Beverly Pearson

A celebration of life for Beverly Mary (Schultz) Pearson, 96, of Des Moines, formerly of Spencer, will be conducted from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji. Pearson passed away Monday, March 20, 2023, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Bev passed away peacefully on the first day of spring, March 20, 2023, with family by her side.

A private family burial was held in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

A celebration of life for Linda Christine Taylor, 75, of Spencer, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at First Congregational Church, in Spencer. Visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m., Friday, with the family, at Warner Funeral Home. Taylor passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Avera Heart Hospital, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Reinhold ‘Mike’ Meinke

Reinhold “Mike” Emil Meinke, son of Ervin and Klara (Kilber) Meinke, was born on April 11, 1943, in Storla, South Dakota. He grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, and graduated from high school in 1961. He was united in marriage to Bennetta McAllister. She passed and he married Diana Pitkin. To this union three children were born: Rod, Ryan and Rusty.

Ellen Kimblad

Ellen Anna Meta (Jipp) Kimblad, 94, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on July 16, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Axel; daughter, Susan; and her brother, Lester.

Surviving family members are her brother, Robert Jipp; her children: Jean, Peg and Thom. Ellen will be missed by many friends, family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
