'Toughest Team’ on schedule proves their metal

SPENCER — Make it 11.

Spirit Lake downed Spencer 41-7, racking up its 11th win in 12 games, while dominating Spencer at Dale Norton Field Friday night. The Indians racked up 500 yards of offense and 41 points, while holding the Tigers to one score and less than half as many yards at 233.

“We knew Spirit Lake might be the best team we see on our schedule this year,” said Jim Tighe, Spencer head coach, on the 15th-ranked team in the state and Class 2A final-four team.
