Tiger girls dismantle Tornadoes and Wolverines

STORM LAKE — Spencer traveled down to Storm Lake to compete with the Tornadoes on Tuesday. The girls put the hammer down, dominating Storm Lake 12-0 to end the game after the first half. Addison Hoben continues to punish opposing goalkeepers; she added nine goals in the two dominating Tiger victories. Hoben leads the state of Iowa in goals with 31 and points with 72.

McDermott medals twice; Tigers win both meets

HULL — After winning their home invitational on Monday, the Tigers traveled to face the Wolfpack on Tuesday. The girls combined for the best team score of the season with a 183. The performance was the best Spencer head coach Nate Wendt has seen in his years coaching the team.

Tiger boys win Tomahawk Relays

CHEROKEE — On Monday, the Spencer boys competed in Cherokee on the track. The team would put together an impressive team performance, winning the meet with a team score of 157, 37 points ahead of second-place Unity Christian.

Tigers sweep Estherville Tuesday

SPENCER — The Tiger boys tennis team has dominated its schedule so far this season. Staying undefeated after a spectacular performance against Estherville Lincoln-Central on Tuesday. Spencer would sweep the Midgets 9-0.

Tigers find way to win seventh straight

SPENCER — The Tigers boys hosted two games at the Spencer Soccer Complex early this week. They defeated the Sioux City West Wolverines 5-0 before defeating Storm Lake 1-0 on Tuesday. Romeo Alvarez was the difference on Tuesday, finding the back of the net for the goal on a pass from Owen Olson. The goal would be the only score for either team. Spencer improved to 7-1 and has won seven straight after the victory.

Tigers finish fourth in home invite

SPENCER — The Tiger boys golf team hosted Western Christian in a showdown at the links. The Wolfpack would defeat Spencer 155-163, winning the meet. Western Christian was led by Caleb Douma, scoring a 35. Tycen Van Zee carded a 37 for the Wolfpack. These two would take medalist and runner-up

Rebels set 19 personal records in Alta

ALTA — The Sioux Central girls track team put together their best performance of the season on Monday. The team dominated the meet, winning 13 events as a unit and scoring 230 total points.

Rebels split early week meets

PRIMGHAR — The Sioux Central girls golf team got some early competition in the week, taking on Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire and South O’Brien. The girls would defeat the Titans via forfeit on Monday and lose their meet by just seven strokes to the Wolverines on Tuesday.

For the girls, Kendra Casey led the way with a 39 for Sioux Central against South O’Brien, earning medalist honors. The girls lost their meeting, 222 to 215.

Sioux Central boys finish second in Alta

ALTA — Sioux Central traveled to compete in the Alta-Aurelia Warrior Coed Track Meet on Monday. The boys finished in second place with 149 team points, 44 behind first place in MMCRU.

"We had multiple good performances from our relay squads," head coach Jeff Tifenthaler said. “Our field events are getting stronger and will continue to improve for us. For us to grab six wins in competitions is great. We had great performances throughout the whole team."

Rebels drop both meets

PAULLINA — On Tuesday, the Rebels traveled to face South O’Brien on the golf course. The boys would drop the meet to the Wolverines by 34 strokes. South O’Brien carded a 172 as a team, led by David Bottjen with a 39 and Derek Paulsen with a 42. Boden Bright put together the best performance for Sioux Central, carding a 45 in his nine holes of work. The Rebels would score 206 as a team.

Laker softball sweep Southeast on diamond

The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team earned themselves a sweep on their third day in a row playing. The Lakers beat Southeast Community College 11-2 in five innings and then 11-8 to in game two. The Lakers are now 30-16 overall and 11-13 in conference.

Lakers stun No. 16 Trojans

The Iowa Lakes Community College Softball team split on their final day against North Iowa Area Community College. The Lakers won game one 10-0 in five innings and then lost game two 10-0. The Lakers are now 28-16 overall and 11-13 in conference.

Spencer archery sends 4 kids to nationals

SPENCER — Four Spencer archers are getting the chance to compete in Sandy, Utah, at the U.S. Western National Tournament on April 28-29. Andrayis Fire Cloud and Lilly Harrington will be representing Spencer Middle School. Fire Cloud will compete in the 3D competition, while Harrington will be in Bullseye. Caitlynn Barr and Fiona Bovee will be going from Sacred Heart; both of them will be competing in Bullseye.

Tigers compete at Sioux City East

SIOUX CITY — It was a quiet day for sports in Spencer on Thursday. The rain washed away all the home games on the schedule. The Spencer girls track team was the only girls team in action, traveling to Sioux City to compete in the Bob Guhin East Invite. The meet took place at Olsen Stadium at Morningside University. Team scores were not kept in the event.

Tigers suffer heartbreaking defeat to Crusaders

SPENCER — It was not the greatest conditions on Friday for a matchup between two northwest Iowa girls soccer powerhouses at the Spencer Soccer Complex. After bits of snow in the first part, the sun stayed out to shine the rest of the way. Bishop Heelan came to town to face the Tigers in a showdown.

Tigers compete at Sioux City East

SIOUX CITY — Spencer traveled to Sioux City on Thursday, competing at the Sioux City East Relays. The Tigers took two wins on the night, winning the 4x800-meter relay and the 4x110-meter shuttle hurdle competitions.
