He passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2024, at Vista Prairie at Fieldcrest, in Sheldon.

Marjorie Elizabeth Walstrom (Frad) was born to Walter and Carrie (Hagedorn) Walstrom on a farm near Royal on April 20, 1929.

Private family visitation for Melvin Bruce Whalen, 94, will be conducted at United Methodist Church of Dickens. Melvin’s family will officiate. Interment will be at Dickens Cemetery. Following the services at the cemetery, there will be a lunch served at the Dickens Community Center

Melvin, the son of Joseph and Maggie (Reeverts) Whalen, was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Dickens. He was raised in Dickens and graduated from Gillett Grove in 1947.

A celebration of life for Douglas Allen Stoermer, 64, will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home Chapel in Hartley. Final resting place will be at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Spencer.

Doug was born April 6, 1960, in Spencer, the son of Earnest Leo and Janice Linette (Carlson) Stoermer. He spent his youth in the Gillett Grove area, and received his education in Royal playing high school football for Clay Central Comanches out of Royal.

"Bones" Willrett, Wendell if you didn't actually know him, passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at 86 years old.

Duane Olson, 88, Yankton, South Dakota, died Sept. 21, 2024, at Avera Majestic Bluffs Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
