Donald “Pete” Peters was born in 1929 to Ray and Ruth Peters, growing up steeped in Midwestern values in Marcus. An avid athlete, he excelled in four high school varsity sports. Upon leaving high school, a serious motorcycle accident denied Don from serving in the U.S. Air Force and delayed his college graduation in 1952. Undeterred, Don worked his way through the University of Northern Iowa with graduate studies at the University of Iowa.

Ethel Wilson, 92, of Milford, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at her home in Milford.

Funeral services for Beulah Jane Umscheid will be conducted at 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022, at Warner Funeral Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Tonna Parsons will officiate the service. Interment will be at Liberty Cemetery in Greenville at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17, 2022.

Jeanne Rae Reimers, 83, of Cromwell Connecticut, passed on Friday, Sept. 23, 2022. Jeanne was born on Oct. 26, 1938, in Spencer the daughter of Lloyd and Loretta Iverson.

Jeanne loved spending time with her family and her fur babies, reading, playing cards, being by the ocean and enjoying lobster rolls.

She is survived by Rich Reimers; her four children: Cheri, Laura, Mark and John; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sibling, Tom Iverson.

Memorial services for Joe Froiland, 69, of Spencer, will be conducted from 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 2022, at Warner Chapel in Spencer. Rev. Ben Useth will officiate the service. Funeral services for Marlene Jane Frey, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 17, 2022

Marlene Jane Frey, the daughter of Raymond and Marie (Trei) Monkemeier, was born on May 25, 1933, in George.

She spent her early years on different family farms until graduating from Melvin High School in 1951. On Aug. 22, 1952, Marlene married Franklyn Frey in Ashton. They began their married life in Sibley and eventually moved to Spencer in 1957, where they made their family home.

Funeral services for Phyllis Stap, 97, of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of May City, will be conducted at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 17, 2022, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in May City. Rev. Richard Milbrandt will officiate the service. Visitation will be conducted one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery in May City. Stap passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Fort Collins.

Memorial services for Vickie Pauline Dykstra, 67, were conducted Saturday, Oct. 8, 2022, at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer. Rev. Michael McGinley officiated the service. Interment was conducted at First Reformed Church Cemetery, in rural Everly.

Vickie, daughter of Lester William and Barbara Lou (Kimball) Dykstra, was born Jan. 22, 1955, in Spencer. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of May City.

Gary was born June 25, 1943, in Springfield, Missouri, and was raised in Spencer, the firstborn son of Chester (Chet) and Dorothy Taylor.

Beverly Goodchild, 85, of Mallard, passed away on Monday, Oct. 3, 2022, at the West Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center.
