June 17, 1958 — Nov. 22, 2024

Donald Lee Halverson, 66, of Sioux Rapids, passed away on Nov. 22, 2024. Donnie was born in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, on June 17, 1958, to parents Don Sr. and Alice Halverson.

Donnie was a friend to everyone. People enjoyed being around him because of his quick wit and quiet sense of humor. He appreciated the history of family farms and enjoyed sharing farm stories with his children. He learned about rocks and gemstones, and he shared that information with his daughter, Beth. His Nordic heritage was revealed in his saga-storytelling. While what he said was often humorous, it was his laughter that was contagious and appreciated.

Donnie attended elementary school at Sioux Valley Community School and Earlham Community School.

Donnie graduated from Sioux Valley High School in May 1977.

Donnie attended Northwest Iowa Community College, Sheldon. He married Tanya Steffen and two children, Beth and Ben, were born to them. They were divorced and later Donnie married Jeanette (Chipper) Wise who brought her two children, Forest and Heather, into their family.

Donnie was a lover of agriculture, and he spent his life pursuing rural jobs. Following high school, Donnie farmed with father, Don Sr., his brother, Robert and brother-in-law, Dean Maupins. He also farmed with his cousins, Brian and Dennis Halverson. Later, he worked for Pro Co-op in Marathon. He especially enjoyed driving 18 wheelers and doing field work.

Donnie liked outdoor activities: spending time with his family, farming, motorcycling, dirt track racing, hunting, camping, classic rock music, mechanics of all sorts and tinkering.

Those left to cherish Donnie's memory are his wife, Chipper, children Beth and Ben; stepchildren Forest and Heather; and grandchildren Lexi, Damien, Elena, Ryne, Maxwell, Marshel, Catherine and Myra.

Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Alice Halverson and brother, Merlin Halverson.

Memorial donations can be made to his family or his favorite charity, ABATE.

A celebration of life is planned for noon May 10, 2025, at the Buena Vista Park, South Sheler. All are invited to attend. Please bring a covered dish or salad or dessert to share, also bring a table service for yourself and a beverage.
