Funeral services for Eldon Charles Goff, 74, of Spencer, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ruthven. Pastor Eric Patton will officiate the service. Interment will be in North Lawn Memorial Park, in Spencer, at 2 p.m. He passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Spencer Hospital.

Eldon, the son of Marvin and LaVonne (Wichman) Goff, was born on June 1, 1950, in Emmetsburg. He was raised on a farm near Ayrshire where he also attended and graduated from school. After graduation, he attended Iowa Lakes Community College where he met his future wife, Linda DeMoss, in the library. He continued his education at Westmar in Lemars, earning a bachelor's degree in business administration.

On June 10, 1972, he married Linda at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Emmetsburg. Following their marriage, they moved to South Dakota to begin their life together and start a career with Farm Credit Services. In 1981, the couple moved to Spencer and lived there since. Eldon worked at Farm Credit Services for 44 years until his retirement in 2016. Eldon loved connecting with people, especially customers and friends in the farming community. He was a very loyal and faithful man to his family, friends and customers. He was a friend to all.

Eldon was devoted to his wife, children, extended family and community. He volunteered his time in many ways, including coaching his kids’ sports teams and volunteering at the Clay County Fair. He enjoyed hunting, biking, kayaking, fishing and sports of any kind, especially with his kids. He liked to spend time outside working with his hands and gardening. Eldon had a deep faith in Jesus, which governed his approach to life. He enjoyed reading the Bible and humbly sharing his faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Irene (Banwart) Goff; his brother, Darrell Goff; and his sister, Marilyn Kappeler.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Linda Goff, of Spencer; his three children: Greg (Rochelle) Goff, of Ankeny; Heather (Chris) Hardt, of Spirit Lake; and Karen (Matt) Shriver, of Boone; eight grandchildren: Emma, Claire and Nathan Goff; Hannah and Isaac Hardt; Phinehas, Gideon and Judah Shriver; his brother, Bob Goff of Ruthven; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
