Jeannie Seely

The family of Jeannie Seely, of Spencer, is saddened to announce her passing on Aug. 4, 2024, age 79.
Jeannie was born Jan. 20, 1945, in Fresno, California, to Johnnie and Margaret Kleinheksel, where her father was serving in World War II. She grew up in Archer, Iowa, along with her two sisters, Margo and Joni; graduated from Sheldon High School in 1964 and attended Northwestern College in Orange City. Jeannie married Phillip Sand in 1964 and had three children: Renee, Steve and Brian. They divorced in 1981 and Jeannie moved to Spencer with the children. Jeannie worked at Spencer Community Schools for 25 years as secretary at Johnson Elementary School. She loved her job and created lasting relationships with the staff and children. In 1992, Jeannie married Stuart Seely.
Jeannie had a great love for her family. She will be remembered most of all for her exceptional love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing and her cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Stuart Seely.
Jeannie is survived by her children, Renee (Kevin Yockey) Hegel, Steve (Christine) Sand, Brian Sand; grandchildren, Chris (Morgan) Hegel, Jon (Sadie) Hegel, Brennan Sand, Sawyer Sand, Haley Sand, Ruby Sand, Vivienne Sand; great-grandchildren, Reghan Hegel, Jameson Hegel; sisters, Margo deHaas, Joni Fisher; stepchildren, Stacy (Tracy) Seely, Julie Seely; and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of her life will be held at Oneota Park Lodge in Spencer on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2024, at noon.
