Jerry Ann Scott, 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at St. Luke Lutheran Home, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation for Jerry will be Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Spencer. A light luncheon will follow.

Born on New Year's Day in 1934 in Van Wert, Ohio, she was a cherished daughter of Harold L. and Eva G. (Smith) Halliwill.

A proud graduate of Van Wert High School in 1951, Jerry married her high school sweetheart, Franklin Dale Scott "Good Ol' Frank," on June 10, 1956, at the First Baptist Church in Van Wert. Together, they embraced a life full of love and adventure, moving to New Britain, Connecticut, where they were blessed with three wonderful children: Franklin III "Scotty," Michael Leroy, and Cynthia "Cindy" Ann. They made their final move to Spencer where she and Frank resided until the end.

Throughout her life, Jerry dedicated herself to her family. She worked at Central Insurance Company and Penguin Point in Van Wert, Fareway Grocery Store in Spencer and finally as a visitation attendant at Warner Funeral Home. She was always balancing her professional commitments with her role as a devoted homemaker, embodying Proverbs 31:10-31 in her daily life.

A woman of profound faith, Jerry was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer, where she served diligently on various boards and committees and touched the lives of many as a youth sponsor. Her life was a reflection of her love for Christ, and her gentle spirit brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.

Jerry loved to cook! She continued to cook for holidays until her later years as she transitioned into assisted living. Her treasured recipes, especially her famous sugar cookies, remain a beloved legacy, passed down through her children and grandchildren. She was the epitome of a devoted housewife, providing warmth and nourishment not only for her family but also for friends who entered her home.

Jerry had a unique gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. With her sweet voice and kind touch, she cherished babysitting her grandchildren, reading to them, playing board games, and cheering them on as they pursued their dreams. She will also be remembered by her granddaughters for her numerous tea parties and trips to the American Girl Store in Chicago. Jerry was a source of encouragement and love, instilling in them the values of faith and perseverance.

As we are sad to know she is no longer with us, we find comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of her Savior, surrounded by peace and love.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 2021; one son, Franklin Dale Scott III; her parents and two sisters, Dorotha "Dottie" Mitchener and Marilyn Gaskill.

Jerry is survived by her children, Michael (Maralee) Scott of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, and Cindy Glover of Arnolds Park; her grandchildren, Austin (Sara) Glover of West Des Moines, Scott (Samantha) Glover of Waukee, Derek (Molly) Scott of Winona, Minnesota, Hannah (Kyle) Martin of Chicago, Taylor (Kevin) Martinson of Milford and Anna (Dami Adebayo) Glover of Rochester, Minnesota; five great-grandchildren, Collette CiCi, Asher, Frankie, Phoenix and Scottie Glover.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church, 1200 Grand Ave., Spencer, IA 51301 in Jerry's name.
