Funeral services for Nicole Metcalfe, 88, of Spencer, will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Albans Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake. Pastor Martin Lucin will officiate the service. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. Albans Episcopal Church Cemetery in Spirit Lake.

Nicole Marie Julliette Metcalfe, the daughter of Pierre and Marie (Andre) Herbin, was born Jan. 27, 1936, in Ceffonds, France. Her childhood years were spent in Ceffonds where she attended school.

Nicole married John Metcalfe on July 29, 1957, in Blessonville, France, while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. They returned to the U.S., living in Kansas City and Council Bluffs, before settling in Spencer in 1959.

Nicole enjoyed sewing and sewing Teddy Bears. She was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church in Spirit Lake.

Nicole passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Spencer Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one brother, Marcel Herbin.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Dorice Metcalfe, of Spencer; James (Carla) Metcalfe, of Iola, Kanasa; Jack (Sally) Metcalfe, of San Antonio, Texas; and Laura (Rob) Redding, of Le Sueur, Minnesota; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Eua (Roland) Masson, of France; other relatives; and many friends.
