Tami Marie (Ransom) Rempe, 51, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away Dec. 18, 2021. A celebration of life (no service) will be held for Tami at the Methodist Church in Webb on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 2-5 p.m. Interment will be at a later date at Garfield Cemetery near Webb.

Tami was born Nov. 23, 1970, in Osceola, Nebraska, to Connie and Greg Ransom and sister Kim. They moved to Webb in 1974 where Tami lived throughout her youth and attended South Clay Community School. She was active in 4-H and Trinity United Methodist Church youth group and she participated in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, baseball, choir, band and speech at South Clay High School.

Upon graduation in 1989, Tami attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln where she received her bachelor’s degree in biology and health education. Tami also walked on to the Nebraska women’s basketball team where she played for two years and received the Husker Reserve Award.

Tami met and married Matthew Rempe in September 1994 and graduated from UNL in December. They moved to Olathe, Kansas in 1995 where their first son, Luke, was born in February 1998. They next moved to Farmington, Minnesota, in 1999 where their second son, Ryan, was born in October that year. In 2002, they moved to Sylvania, Ohio, where Tami focused on raising Luke and Ryan and volunteering at their school.

Following her divorce in 2012, Tami had a variety of interesting jobs before finding her true work calling at the West Toledo YMCA where she worked in member services and taught a variety of classes for active older adults. Tami led activities such as monthly potlucks and started a series of bus trip adventures for the seniors to area attractions.

While Tami’s life was cut too short from breast cancer, during her time on earth she touched so many lives and always made everyone feel welcome and blessed. Tami wanted everyone who loved and knew her to not cry for her but rather remember that she is standing in the sun with Jesus and looks forward to seeing everyone again.

Preceding Tami in paving the way to heaven were her maternal grandparents, Lucille and Harvey Welch; paternal grandparents, Millie and Merv Ransom Sr. and Margie and Chris Sylvester; as well as Tami’s college roommate, Kelli Nielsen, who also lost her battle with breast cancer.

Tami is survived by her sons: Luke and Ryan Rempe, of Sylvania, Ohio; her parents Connie and Jack Sylvester, of Webb, and Greg Ransom of Henderson, Nevada; her sister, Kim Lawler of Rosemount, Minnesota; her niece, Morgan Lawler, of Plymouth, Minnesota; siblings: Jane (Tom) Goodlaxson, of Spirit Lake, Jill Hamilton, of San Diego, California and Tim (Mindy) Sylvester of Webb; nieces and nephews: Jack and Greta Goodlaxson, Myles and Avery Hamilton, and Christian, Regan, and Madison Sylvester; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and her faithful furry companions: Ziva and Little Cat.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made at www.gofundme.com/f/tami-ransom-rempe-memorial-gifts or sent to the family to be distributed to causes important to Tami.

Thanks to all who knew and loved Tami. Namaste.
