Colleen Ann Gross Chambers was the fourth child of John and Catherine Berberich Gross. She was born at home on the Gross family farm east of Greenville on May 29, 1931.

Private family funeral services for Karen Nelson, 68, of Spencer, will be conducted following her wishes to be cremated. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Kevin, 69, passed away at home on April 23, 2024. He was born on Nov. 18, 1954, in Maquoketa. Spending his early years in eastern Iowa, Kevin moved to Spencer in 1961, and grew up here with his siblings.

James “Jim” L. Rowley, 85, of Syracuse, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024. He was born on Feb. 5, 1939, in Farnam, Nebraska, to Warren and Doris (Gugelman) Rowley. He began his education at a one room country school in Orafino, Nebraska. The family moved to Curtis, Nebraska, where he attended another country school through the eighth grade.

Rodney Arlo Gritten passed away at the age of 75 on Jan. 12, 2024, in Gold Canyon, Arizona. The place he called HOME was Spencer, Iowa, at 5:13 Bar.

Funeral services for Debra Maurer, 58, of Sutherland, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 26, 2024, at Church of Christ in Sutherland. Revs. John Erickson and Michael Hyde will conduct the service. Burial will be at Waterman Cemetery in Sutherland. Maurer passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at home in Sutherland. Mardi, a beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, departed this world on April 12, 2024. She was born on Jan. 27, 1941, in Emmetsburg to Gilbert and Lois Currier.

Throughout her life, Mardi lived in Spirit Lake, Spencer, and Bemidji, Minnesota, settling in Spencer for the last 17 years of her life.

Alexander John Jentilucci was born on Jan. 31, 1938, and passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024, at Stonebay Senior Living in Orono, Minnesota. Alex is survived by his wife, Dianne, and her brothers and sisters and their spouses and his nieces and nephews, all from the Twin Cities. Alex never lived in Spencer, but his wife, Dianne, grew up there and so did her brothers Dennis and Arlo, and her sisters Carol and Rhonda.

Funeral services for Bernie Campbell, 80, of Hartley, will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2024, at First Baptist Church, in Spencer. Rev. Tylor Sarchet will officiate the service.
