De Niro narrates and plays mob boss Frank Costello, in “The Alto Knights.” Costello — regarded as a gambler — Costello rose to prominence at the expense of childhood friend Vito Genovese whose misstep landed him in prison when things were just heating up. Did I mention that Genovese is also played by De Niro.
