The Spencer Fire Department saw a 74% increase in call volumes in February 2025 compared to the same month in 2024. Meanwhile, the Police Department hired six new officers, most of whom had previous experience.

Fire Chief Jesse Coulson reported that his department responded to 80 calls for service in February, compared to just 46 calls in February 2024. The calls included a 33% rise in fire reports and a 94% surge in EMS calls.
