As the elected state legislators are debating issues in Des Moines which impact the state as a whole, the divide between state and local control is a talking point for both sides of the debate. While the two are on the same page when it comes to the representatives and the local government, questions remain regarding who has the final say when it comes to area finances.

“Local control in Iowa is kind of a myth,” state Rep. John Wills, of District 10, said.
